Recreation in Martins Ferry, Ohio

There are many recreational activities in Martins Ferry and the greater Wheeling area.  From outdoor parks to indoor sports and entertainment, there is plenty to do here.   In Martins Ferry, take a walk through City Park featuring several monuments.   In the summer you can take in a youth baseball game or take a swim at the city pool.   The recreation center offers various programs throughout the year. The Legion Lanes also offer bowling year-round.

Each June, Martins Ferry is proud to sponsor the largest stock car division race in the United States when the city holds the All-American Soap Box Derby.   In July, Independence Day is celebrated with the annual Sky Show featuring fireworks, food, entertainment and rides for the kids.    August brings the celebration of the city history with the annual Betty Zane Days held in City Park.

Within minutes you can be at one of several area golf courses, go horseback riding or utilize the walking trails at Oglebay, visit the Good Zoo and other activities.

if you prefer the indoors there are several fitness centers, and leisure activities at the Victorian Vaudville theatre, as well as Wesbanco Arena. The Arena holds concerts and events throughout the year as well as an ECHL Hockey team and indoor football (coming Spring 2009).
